Travis Decker Manhunt Reaches Critical Stage Following Deaths of Three Children

The nationwide search for Travis Decker — the Washington man accused of killing his three young daughters — has entered a decisive phase, with law enforcement officials stating they are “closing in” on his whereabouts.

AUTHORITIES BELIEVE SUSPECT IS CONTAINED
During a press briefing on Wednesday, June 11, Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison shared significant updates with the public. It has now been nine days since the bodies of Paityn (9), Evelyn (8), and Olivia Decker (5) were found near the Rock Island Campground in Chelan County, Washington.

The children were last seen on Friday, May 30, when they left home for a scheduled, court-approved visitation with their father.

On June 3, authorities discovered Travis Decker’s vehicle abandoned near the Rock Island Campground. Not long after, the bodies of his three daughters were located in a tent close by. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) confirmed through autopsy reports that all three children died by suffocation, and their deaths were ruled homicides.

SEARCH EFFORT SHIFTS TO BLEWETT PASS AREA
In a statement released Tuesday, June 10, CCSO announced that search efforts had led investigators to the Blewett Pass region near Highway 97. Sheriff Mike Morrison noted that search teams had uncovered significant evidence believed to be linked to Decker, narrowing their focus to a more confined area.

“We believe we’re on his trail,” Morrison said. “At this point, wherever he tries to go, we have resources in place to intercept him.”

TRACKING EFFORTS INTENSIFY IN RUGGED TERRAIN
Authorities received a credible report from hikers in the Enchantments area, who saw a man traveling alone and avoiding contact. He appeared unequipped for the terrain and current weather conditions.

A search helicopter later spotted an individual matching Decker’s description near Colchuck Lake. When approached, the man fled on foot.

K9 units were brought in and successfully followed the scent to the Ingalls Creek Trailhead, strengthening belief that Decker remains in the area, likely hiding in remote wilderness.

Despite the difficult landscape, Sheriff Morrison remains optimistic:
“People across Washington know who he is. He’s boxed in. Eventually, he’ll slip up — and when he does, we’ll be ready.”

COMMUNITY SAFETY NOTICE: STAY AWARE, STAY SAFE
Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison is urging residents, visitors, and outdoor enthusiasts in the region to exercise caution as the search for Travis Decker continues:

  • Keep all doors and windows locked

  • Report any suspicious behavior without delay

  • Do not approach individuals who seem to be avoiding contact or are unprepared for the environment

“We’re in a high-traffic area for hiking and tourism,” Morrison noted. “That means more people on the trails — and fewer places for him to hide.”

CHARGES FILED AGAINST TRAVIS DECKER
Travis Decker is currently wanted on the following felony charges:

  • Three counts of first-degree murder

  • One count of first-degree kidnapping

  • Custodial interference

Though still at large, investigators remain confident that his apprehension is imminent.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR WHITNEY DECKER
A verified GoFundMe campaign created to assist Whitney Decker, mother of the three young victims, has raised over $1.2 million as of June 12. Contributions will help with funeral arrangements, legal assistance, and trauma recovery services.
