AFTER THE BALTIMORE BRIDGE COLLAPSED, 38-YEAR-OLD FATHER OF TWO VANISHED

    After the Baltimore Bridge tragedy, a 38-year-old father vanished. Maynor Yassir Suazo Sandoval is presumed dead after he got vanished with the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

    Maynor’s brother, Martin Suazo had talked about his brother to a news outlet. Maynor had migrated to United States from Santa Bárbara, Honduras.

    As he was a hardworker, he also had an 18-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter, along with his wife.

    He was a construction worker, and an entrepreneur. His other brother, Carlos Suazo Sandoval, described Maynor as a person who had a “vision.”

    “God grant the miracle, it would be beautiful.” He also hoped for his brother’s return. If his body would be found, the family is planning to take him back to Honduras, and break the terrible news to his parents.

    The family members had shared their condolences from the social media, where they talked about how Maynor was a joyful person, and a great father. Maynor’s sister had shared an emotional video.

    “He gave us the strength for everything.” She said in tears. “Maynor is a great guy […] a giver of noble causes […] with a vision and mission at the service of our community,” she said.

    “Maynor Suazo, a young entrepreneur with a vision of service to his community, especially to the children and social causes of the municipality. Promoter and sponsor of minor soccer in Azacualpa,” his soccer friend, Himery Perdomo said about Maynor.

    When a Singaporean-flagged container vessel hit a pillar of the bridge, the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed.

    A CASA member, as CASA Executive Director Gustavo Torres had confirmed, was one of the people who were on the bridge when it collapsed.

    “Sadly, we discovered that one of the construction workers involved was a longtime member of our CASA family, adding an even deeper layer of sorrow to this already grievous situation,” CASA Executive Director Gustavo Torres stated.

    El Salvadorian Miguel Luna, who was living in Maryland for more than 19 years was on the bridge when it collapsed.

    His wife, María del Carmen Castellón, is feeling devastated after she learned that her husband was on the bridge when it collapsed. The grieving wife stated, “They only tell us that we have to wait, that right now they cannot give information. [We feel] devastated, devastated because our hearts are broken because we don’t know how they have been rescued yet. We are just waiting for the news.”

    “It hurts my heart to see what is happening. We are human beings and they are my coworkers,” his colleague Jesus Campos said. “First of all, God, be alive. It’s what you want most.”

    It is still unclear how many people were on the bridge when it collapsed, and it is known that 8 workers were on the bridge during the terrible incident.

    One of the people who were saved was named as a person who was an employee of Brawner Builders. One of the two survivors of the tragedy is in “very serious condition.”

    The tragic incident happened on Tuesday, when a container vessel named DALI hit to the Francis Scott Key Bridge. American Pilots Association executive director Clay diamond stated that the pilot did everything he could, but couldn’t stop the ship.

     

    “Just minutes before the bridge, there was a total blackout on the ship, meaning that the ship lost engine power and electrical power, it was a complete blackout,” Diamond said.
